Why would you bother carrying an actual camera when you can just take photos on your phone?

Besides the obvious image quality improvements, having an actual camera means I intentionally take photos, not just 'snapshots'. A phone is a jack-of-all-traits, master of none. An actual camera only does one thing, and it does it way better.

Photos taken on a phone get lost in the huge volume of media you accumulate, photos people send you, photos of your own, screenshots and other junk. Having an actual camera knowing everything on the memory card will be saved and stored keeps things nice and organised.

Having an archive on my computer of all my photos, organised in folders for various events; holidays, birthdays, travels, work, food, etc etc, you name the event, I can probably find it.

Owning a camera has inspired me to travel more, eat out more and just go out and explore. Most experiences are better when you have photography as a hobby. It makes you want to go and see things, capture it the best way you can and make memories you'll keep forever.

Downside is it can end up as a very expensive hobby....
